Amercian Female Football

Amercian football is no longer men's sport now. Women can also play American football. The following is the match between girls from the New York Euphoria and Los Angeles Temptation competing in the Lingerie Football League (LFL Lingerie Football League (LFL).

The new LFL – with women playing a full-contact game in helmets, sports bras and knickers - will feature a two conference format.

The Atlanta Steam, Chicago Bliss, Miami Caliente, New England Euphoria and the Tampa Breeze will compete in the Eastern Conference.

The Western Conference features the Dallas Desire, Los Angeles Temptation, Phoenix Scorch, San Diego Seduction and the Seattle Mist.

And at the end of the season the 11-girl team who can prove they’re the best catch will be rewarded with the Lingerie Bowl trophy in a showdown between the conference winners.

The competition was first played during halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 and featured Team Dream vs. Team Euphoria.

The Pittsburgh Steelers is a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is currently a member of the North Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest and most championed franchise in the AFC.

Talking of the cheerleaders, it would be good to get them to do some Shakespeare when there is a Touchdown and in the intervals. A medley of all 37 plays might be too much, but a medley of the best 12 might work really well. It is possible that they could be done as musical interpretations, although maybe they could shout out some of the main lines. ” Wherefore art thou Touchdown?” ” Is this a football I see before me”
Have Kermit and Miss Piggy commentating the game. Everyone loved The Muppets in Britain and the NFL would get a big following from using those two stars. Fozzy Bear could interview players on the sideline and Statler and Waldorf, the two old men, could sit and throw popcorn from the balcony. This would give people familiar faces and also an opportunity to explain the game in very simple terms to the many British who have no idea what is going on.
ousands of women play organised games of American Football across the United States in amateur teams wearing conventional uniforms, and receiving lzero commercial interest. So like the woman's volley ball profession realised you need to show a lil skin, here comes gridiron's secret formula to success, the LFL....

Here's some pictures of the ladies of the Lingerie Football Leauge in.. err scoring mode:

This weekend the Moto GP teams and riders are at the Estoril circuit for the Portuguese Grand Prix and the amazing Jorge Lorenzo is on pole position, Friday practice session was the first time that the MotoGP rookie had ridden his Fiat Yamaha on the Portuguese circuit, but his speed and riding style were out of this world. He had a narrow escape early in the qualifying session, when he squeezed past a slower rider, Chris Vermeulen. Lorenzo claims he is not feeling under any pressure to win the race on Sunday, but it is looking more and more likely and now only a question of time for his first victory after already claiming a third and second place on the podium.
The winner of the last race at Jerez, Dani Pedrosa, has taken the second position on the grid only 0.233 seconds, slower than Lorenzo. Pedrosa is currently leading the 2008 World Championship
Valentino Rossi, is back on the front row of the grid by securing third place and was absolutely beaming at his success after having been in the top four all weekend.
In fourth place is the teammate of Pedrosa, Nicky Hayden on the second Repsol Honda, who claimed he was blocked on his fast lap. He was followed by the two Tech-3 Yamaha riders, Colin Edwards and James Toseland on their first outing with the new pneumatic-valve engines.
In a superb seventh place was another rookie, Andrea Dovizioso with Randy de Puniet right behind him.
The reigning World Champion, Casey Stoner was the second best Bridgestone runner but still could only manage ninth place on the grid.
John Hopkins was in tenth place after hoping for a top five place this weekend on the Kawasaki.
Loris Capirossi was in a surprising twelfth spot after he had a fast low-side fall, which saw his bike cartwheeling across the gravel.

Jordan played in the 1992 summer Olympics with the original Dream Team, perhaps the greatest team ever assembled. It was the first time NBA players were allowed to compete in the Olympics. Michael Jordan averaged 12.7 points per game as the USA Dream Team went 6-0 to win the gold medal, Jordan’s second in his career.

There were some troublig events that followed his third NBA Championship. Jordan’s father, James Jordan, pulled over one night to take a nap on his way home, and was murdered by a couple of armed robbers in North Carolina. The NBA also began an investigation into allegations that Jordan had illegally bet on NBA games. He was eventually cleared. These events eventually caused Jordan to lose his motivation and the sense of having to prove something as a basketball player, and he felt it was time to step away from the court.

On March 18, 1995, Jordan announced “I’m back!” He ended his short-lived career with baseball and rejoined the Bulls near the end of the 1994-1995 regular season, eventually losing to the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. “He didn’t look like the old Michael Jordan, ” said Orlando’s Nick Anderson.

Jordan once again had something to prove to the world, that he was still the greatest basketball player to ever play the game, and that he would be even greater in the season to come. Michael Jordan led the Bulls to an astonishing 72-10 record, the best regular season in the history of the NBA. Jordan led the league in scoring with 30.4 points per game, was named the All-Star MVP, the league MVP and the NBA Finals MVP, as they went on to win their fourth NBA championship (1996). He was selected in 1996 as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.Jordan and the Bulls continued their dominance into the next two seasons, winning two more consecutive championships (1997 and 1998), becoming the first team in NBA history to repeat-the-threepeat (1991-1993, 1996-1998). Jordan earned All-Star MVP and league MVP honors in 1998, led the league in scoring in all three years of his comeback (1996, 1997, and 1998) and won six NBA Finals MVP awards for every Finals the Bulls have competed in.

The breakup of the Bulls dynasty by Jerry Krause led to Jordan’s second retirement. Jordan stated he would not play basketball for anyone else other than Phil Jackson, and mentioned he would like to spend more time with his wife, Juanita, and their three children, Jeffrey, Marcus, and Jasmine.

Michael Jordan later joined the Washington Wizards as President of Basketball Operations and part owner in January 2000. “I’m going to have my imprints and footprints all over this organization,” said Jordan. “I look forward to turning this thing around. Right now we’re an underachieving team.” Jordan disappointedly witnessed his team win 19 games in the 2000-2001 season, his first full season as President of Basketball Operations, after winning only 29 games the season before. He completely overhauled the roster, hired Doug Collins, a coach Jordan played for once before in his early years with the Bulls, and began the Wizards rebuilding phase. But no one had expected the turn of events that were leading into the 2001-2002 season

The latest reason has been provided by the University of Kentucky. It hired basketball coach John Calipari away from Memphis, paying him $31.65 million over eight years. His total compensation involves a web of millions of dollars in agreements the university has struck with shoe, athletic-apparel, and soda companies as well as marketeers of broadcast rights.

The athletic department says (as UConn Final Four basketball coach Jim Calhoun recently asserted in his famous tirade defending his $1.6 million salary) this is no problem because it is self-sustaining, sucking nothing away from educational resources. University of Kentucky President Lee Todd behaved less as a CEO of higher learning than as a stupefied gnome counting his treasure.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid Club de Fútbol (Spanish pronunciation: [reˈal maˈðɾið ˈkluβ ðe ˈfutβol] Royal Madrid Football Club), commonly known as Real Madrid, is a professional association football club based in Madrid, Spain. It is the most successful team in Spanish football and was voted by FIFA as the most successful club of the 20th century, having won a record 31 La Liga titles, 17 Spanish "Copa del Rey" Cups, eight Spanish Super Cups, a record 9 UEFA Champions Leagues, 2 UEFA Cups, 1 UEFA Supercup, and 3 Intercontinental Cups. Real Madrid was a founding member of FIFA and the now-defunct G–14 group of Europe's leading football clubs as well as its replacement, the European Club Association. The word "Real" in the club's name is the Spanish term for "royal", and was given by the King Alfonso XIII in 1920 together with the royal crown in the emblem – several other Spanish football teams also received this royal distinction: Real Sociedad, Real Unión de Irún, Real Betis, and Real Zaragoza.
Founded in 1902, Real Madrid has never been relegated from La Liga, the top league of Spanish football. The club established itself as a major force in both Spanish and European football during the 1950s. In the 1980s, the club had one of the best teams (known as La Quinta del Buitre) in Spain and Europe, winning two UEFA Cups, five consecutive Spanish championships, one Spanish Cup and three Spanish Super Cups.
The team's traditional home kit colour is white, although it initially adopted a blue oblique stripe on the shirt. Its crest has been changed several times in attempts to modernise or re-brand it. The current crest is a modified version of the one first adopted in the 1920s. Real Madrid's home ground is the 80,354-seater Santiago Bernabéu football stadium in downtown Madrid, where it has played since 1947. The Bernabéu was the venue for the European cup (or UEFA Champions League) finals of 1957, 1969, 1980 and 2010.
Real Madrid holds long-standing rivalries with other football clubs, most notably FC Barcelona, with matches between the two teams referred to as "el Clásico". Unlike most European football clubs, Real Madrid's members (socios) have owned and operated the club since its inception. The club is the world's richest football club (€401m) in terms of revenue and the second most valuable worth over €950m in 2008

Early years, Civil War and Franco (1902–1945)
Real Madrid's origins go back to when football was introduced to Madrid by the academics and students of the Institución libre de enseñanza, which included several Oxbridge graduates. They founded Football Club Sky in 1897, playing on Sunday mornings at Moncloa. It split into two clubs in 1900: New Foot-Ball de Madrid and Club Español de Madrid.[5] The latter club split again in 1902, resulting in the formation of Real Madrid Football Club on 6 March 1902.[2] Three years after its foundation, in 1905, Madrid FC won its first title after defeating Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Cup final. The club became one of the founding sides of the Royal Spanish Football Federation on 4 January 1909, when club president Adolfo Meléndez signed the foundation agreement of the Spanish FA. After moving between grounds the team moved to the Campo de O'Donnell in 1912.[6] In 1920, the club's name was changed to Real Madrid after King Alfonso XIII granted the title of Real (Royal) to the club.[7]
In 1929, the first Spanish football league was founded. Real Madrid led the first league season until the last match, a loss to Athletic Bilbao, meant they finished runners-up to Barcelona.[8] Real Madrid won its first League title in the 1931–32 season. Real won the League again the following year, becoming the first side to have won the championship twice.[9]
Santiago Bernabéu Yeste and European success (1945–1978)
Santiago Bernabéu Yeste became president of Real Madrid in 1945.[10] Under his presidency, the club, its stadium Santiago Bernabéu and its training facilities Ciudad Deportiva were rebuilt after the Spanish Civil War damages. Beginning in 1953, he embarked upon a strategy of signing world-class players from abroad, the most prominent of them being Alfredo Di Stéfano.
In 1955, acting upon the idea proposed by the French sports journalist and editor of L'Équipe Gabriel Hanot, Bernabéu, Bedrignan and Gusztáv Sebes created an exhibition tournament of invited teams from around Europe that would eventually become what today is known as the UEFA Champions League.[12] It was under Bernabéu's guidance that Real Madrid established itself as a major force in both Spanish and European football. The club won the European Cup five times in a row between 1956 and 1960, which included the 7–3 Hampden Park final against Eintracht Frankfurt in 1960.[11] After these five consecutive successes, Real was permanently awarded the original cup and earning the right to wear the UEFA badge of honour.[13] The club won the European Cup for a sixth time in 1966 defeating FK Partizan 2–1 in the final with a team composed entirely of same nationality players, a first in the competition.[14] This team became known as the "Ye-yé". The name "Ye-yé" came from the "Yeah, yeah, yeah" chorus in the Beatles' song "She Loves You" after four members of the team posed for Diario Marca dressed in Beatles wigs. The Ye-yé generation was also European Cup runner-up in 1962 and 1964.
In the 1970s, Real Madrid won 5 league championships and 3 Spanish Cups. The club played its first UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final in 1971 and lost to English side Chelsea 2–1. On 2 July 1978, club president Santiago Bernabéu died while the World Cup was being played in Argentina. The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) decreed three days of mourning to honour him during the tournament.[17] The following year, the club organized the first edition of the Santiago Bernabéu Trophy in the memory of its former president.

Quinta del Buitre and seventh European Cup (1980s–2000)
By the early 1980s, Real Madrid had lost its grasp on the La Liga title until a new batch of home-grown stars brought domestic success back to the club.[18] Spanish sport journalist Julio César Iglesias gave to this generation the name La Quinta del Buitre ("Vulture's Cohort"), which was derived from the nickname given to one of its members, Emilio Butragueño. The other four members were Manuel Sanchís, Martín Vázquez, Míchel and Miguel Pardeza.[19] With La Quinta del Buitre (reduced to four members when Pardeza left the club for Zaragoza in 1986) and notable players like goalkeeper Francisco Buyo, right-back Miguel Porlán Chendo and Mexican striker Hugo Sánchez, Real Madrid had one of the best teams in Spain and Europe during the second half of the 1980s, winning two UEFA Cups, five Spanish championships in a row, one Spanish cup and three Spanish Super Cups.[19] In the early 1990s, La Quinta del Buitre split up after Martín Vázquez, Emilio Butragueño and Míchel left the club.
In 1996, President Lorenzo Sanz appointed Fabio Capello as coach. Although his tenure lasted only one season, Real Madrid was proclaimed league champion and players like Roberto Carlos, Predrag Mijatović, Davor Šuker and Clarence Seedorf arrived at the club to strengthen a squad that already boasted the likes of Raúl, Fernando Hierro, Iván Zamorano, and Fernando Redondo. As a result, Real Madrid (with the addition of Fernando Morientes in 1997) finally ended its 32-year wait for its seventh European Cup. In 1998, under manager Jupp Heynckes, The Whites defeated Juventus 1–0 in the final thanks to a goal from Predrag Mijatović.[20]

Los Galácticos, Calderón and second Pérez era (2000–present)

Real Madrid's players celebrate their 2008 Supercopa de España title win.
In July 2000, Florentino Pérez was elected club president.[21] He vowed in his campaign to erase the club's debt and modernize the club's facilities. However, the primary electoral promise that propelled Pérez to victory was the signing of Luís Figo.[22] The following year, the club got its training ground rezoned and used the money to begin assembling the famous Galáctico side including players such as Zinédine Zidane, Ronaldo, Luís Figo, Roberto Carlos, Raúl and David Beckham. It is debatable whether the gamble paid off, as despite a European Cup win in 2002, followed by the League in 2003, the club failed to win a major trophy for the next three seasons.[23]

Ramón Calderón was elected as club president on 2 July 2006 and subsequently appointed Fabio Capello as the new coach and Predrag Mijatović as the new sporting director. Real Madrid won the La Liga title in 2007 for the first time in four years but Capello was sacked.[24] In the 2007–08 season, The Whites won the domestic league for the 31st time, achieving their first consecutive league title in eighteen years.[25] On 1 June 2009, Florentino Pérez regained Real Madrid's presidency.[26][27] Pérez continued with the Galácticos policy pursued in his first term, buying Kaká from A.C. Milan[28] then purchasing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United for a record breaking £80 million.

he A’s young closer is quickly emerging as one of the league’s better closers. The reigning AL Rookie of the Year posted 26 saves last season while keeping his ERA at a minuscule 1.84 and his WHIP at a phenomenal 0.88.

The A’s aren’t likely to be very good in 2010, but don’t think Bailey won’t get a lot of saves opportunities. The young A’s pitching staff will keep them in a lot of games, and the games they do win are likely to be close. Expect Bailey to close out 35-40 games in 2010.

A few years down the road, Bailey is likely to be one of the league’s elite stoppers. He started his minor league career as a starter, but the A’s are likely to keep him in the closer position long term after

New Zealand Cricket has told its selectors to never again consider six former Black Caps for any representative selection after they played in the rebel Indian Cricket League competition.
It appears the players won't even be allowed to hold contracts to play for State Championship teams, and will be limited to playing on for match payments on a game-by-game basis a huge blow to their prospects of playing any more meaningful cricket in New Zealand.
NZ Cricket has advised selectors to disregard for national or "A" team inclusion current prospects Daryl Tuffey and Hamish Marshall, or the recently "retired" Chris Cairns, Nathan Astle, Craig McMillan and Chris Harris.
The six former test players have drawn the ire of the establishment for competing in the lucrative but unsanctioned ICL, which completed its first season of operation this month amid unanimous condemnation from the International Cricket Council's member nations.
Of the sextet, Cairns, Harris and Astle are almost certainly past their use-by dates for national duty, but Tuffey, McMillan and Marshall if the latter opted to reverse his Kolpak status may have entertained thoughts of a comeback.
That now seems impossible following revelations of an agreement to actively discourage the selection of rebel players at all levels struck between the chief executives of all the test-playing nations.
New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan said yesterday he'd been in contact with Lalit Modi, a vice-president of the Indian cricket board, and had phoned Modi to clarify NZC's position and would be speaking to him again on the issue.
But he confirmed the policy of discouraging the selection of the rebels.
"We have a preference that our selectors take into consideration the fact that that these guys have been playing in an unsanctioned competition, an event that isn't in the best interests of New Zealand or world cricket, and that we'd rather that they didn't play," said Vaughan.
"I don't think we can say that they're ineligible for selection. We'd prefer to say that the selectors will be encouraged to consider other players.
"There's an understanding that we don't support the ICL and that we don't want to give them unnecessary traction."
The international pact came to light after the Indian board of control took exception to the inclusion of Tuffey in an Auckland XI that played the Bangladeshi tourists, claiming the selection of a rebel undermined the intent of the agreement.
"All the boards had agreed in principle at the last ICC CEO's meeting that any player who is part of an unauthorised tournament will not be encouraged," Niranjan Shah, the BCCI secretary, told the Times of India.
"This is a violation of a gentleman's agreement. Lalit Modi will write to New Zealand Cricket to protest against this move."
NZC had earlier made clear its position on contracted players participating in the rebel league, saying it would regard the action as a breach of contract. But until last week it had not spelled out its position on the status of non-contracted players.
The impact of the CEOs agreement will probably be felt again this week, when the announcement of the England squad to tour New Zealand will almost certainly highlight the exclusion of rebel players Darren Maddy, Paul Nixon, Chris Read and Vikram Solanki.
"We regard this as a very serious issue," the ECB's new chairman Giles Clarke recently told The Times. "Selectors will be instructed to take into consideration the fact that these players have played in an unauthorised competition. You can draw your own conclusions from that."
NZC's hardline stance follows that of the boards of India, Pakistan and South Africa, who have all threatened their rebel players with bans not only from playing international cricket but also from their domestic competitions.
"We view them as rebels," Gerald Majola, the CSA chief executive, told Beeld, an Afrikaans newspaper. "They have joined a breakaway organisation. Once they have played even one game in the ICL tournament, it's over and they will never be allowed to play in South Africa again."
Pakistan board chief Nasim Ashraf said: "We were very clear about our policy about the ICL and they [the players] knew they would be automatically banned from playing cricket in Pakistan if they took part."
However, the move to marginalise the rebels has received a predictable response from Tim May, the chief executive of the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations.
"If a player wants to retire from international cricket because he's had enough and wants to spend more time with his family and he can seek employment elsewhere, to allow him to spend more time with his family, then, like any other employee, he should be allowed to," May said. "We will resist that [banning players] with everything we have. That is an unreasonable restraint of trade."
Vaughan said at this stage, NZC saw no need to prevent the rebels playing domestic cricket on a non-contracted, match-by-match basis, but they would monitor the situation and could yet change position.
